Here's a few pictures from our trip this last summer
--rock hounding to and from the California Redwoods.

Aliens Attack!
As we went along on our trip, we hunted for many geo-caches along the way. We found one that the instructions said we had to take a picture with this little alien and post it on that cache's website.

Sometimes those long desert miles make you a little goofy(At least that is the excuse we are giving for our actions!)

Drew and Michael on the train ride we took in Old Sacramento, CA

Now THAT is a wrench!
Mike sent this picture back to his co-workers at Midas Muffler

Drew at the beach.

How about these abalone? We were watching the divers finding them.

Drew by one of the many Old Growth GIANT redwoods we saw!

A cool picture I took. These are some of the 2nd growth smaller redwoods.

Christmas 2007

Here are the pictures I tried to send everyone just after
christmas, but it didn't work (probably operator error).

The Quilt Project

I made quilts for David and Daniel. (That is Michael holding Daniel's quilt, and David and Drew are holding David's quilt )
The 9-patch squares were cut out by Daniel & David when they were little and wanted money. They earned one penny per square. There is 160 squares in each quilt that they cut out.

For the other squares, I designed squares that represented things that help a family be strong.

The center square has their last name, that represents their marriage.
The other squares are:
Trees represent enjoying nature
Temple represent where families are made eternal
(the white is made from the sleeves of my wedding dress)

Sunrise represent light,knowledge, learning, education

Rainbow represent faith (see Bible story of Noah & the rainbow)

Tower
represent service-doesn't matter how much money, power or position, you should always serve others and each other.
(see Book of Mormon story of King Benjamin)

Canadian Flags
represent all extended family

Log Cabin pattern with a red heart in the center I call Love in your Log Cabin or Love at Home that surrounds the center square.

Plain 8 inch squares have just fun patterns that represents Family Fun

I told them that these are picnic quilts--meant to be used, not just looked at. They are for any time it's family time. The quilts are backed with sturdy duck cloth so they don't pick up sticks and leaves and junk at picnics.

There are over 710 pieces in each quilt. David & Daniel were surprised and happy that I hadn't thrown all their hard work away!

Finally a picture of me that might not scare small children!!

GIRL"S RULE

David just doesn't win against Shannon & Ella!

(I LOVE having more girls in the family!!)

Just getting this going

Thanks to my smart daughter-in-love Shannon, she helped me get started here. Her and Katie have inspired me to try and figure this blogging stuff out. It sure beats going out to shovel snow!! ha! ha! I'll attempt to put some pictures on here too--if I can't figure it out, Shannon will be getting a relay call--HELP!
Life here is going to be centered around getting Michael ready to go off to Texas to be a missionary. He's excited to get started!
